Tree Fiddy comes from the Season 3, Episode 3 of South Park when the Loch Ness Monster demands Tree Fiddy from the parents of Chef. This episode first aired on April 21st, 1999. The episode includes several scenes, where Chef‘s parents are talking about their encounters with the Loch Ness Monster, who always asks them for "Tree Fiddy", or tree dollars, fifty cents. The relevant portion of that episode can be watched here.
Nessy Coin has no association with South Park.
This token is simply paying homage to the tree fiddy meme we all love and recognize.
350 is the symbolic numerical value of Tree Fiddy. Thematically, this number has been used for NESSY tokenomics and airdrop amounts.
NESSY was first deployed on Mainnet and then bridged to Base. Ethereum Mainnet is Layer 1 and Base is an Ethereum L2.
Benefits of deploying on an L1 first, then bridging to an L2, include: easier access for buyers on L1 to trade NESSY tokens and easier bridging to other L2s in the future.
Ethereum's TVL cannot be ignored, even if Nessy Coin when launched is intended to be a "Base meme coin". More potential buyers and trading volume is good for the project.
Nessy Coin was created as the outcome of exploring and combining many ideas:
Nessy Coin was created to be an entertaining meme coin with the goal of being the #1 meme coin on Base. How to achieve this? The NESSY COIN project and community:
Nessy Coin's 350 theme also lends itself to being able to gently promote the existence of 350.org and climate change topics.
50% of the NESSY supply was distributed to the Loch Ness Monster contract on Base when the project launched.
When you pay the Loch Ness Monster an amount of Tree Fiddy, which can either be $3.50 or $350 of USDC tokens, you will receive NESSY tokens.
While supplies last, you may also receive either 1 "Common Key" or 1 "Rare Key" as a bonus token.
The Loch Ness Monster contract has these functions to choose from:
PayThreeFifty(): First you must go approve() at USDC contract the Loch Ness Monster address as the as spender, and a value provided of at least 3500000 = $3.50 USDC for 6 decimal USDC contract. Then you may call PayThreeFifty() from the Loch Ness Monster contract directly. These will be 2 separate transactions.
PayThreeHundredFifty() First you must go approve() at USDC contract the Loch Ness Monster address as the as spender, and a value provided of at least 350000000 = $350.00 USDC for 6 decimal USDC contract. Then you may call PayThreeHundredFifty() from the Loch Ness Monster contract directly. These will be 2 separate transactions.
The amount of NESSY tokens received are proportional to the remaining NESSY supply in the Loch Ness Monster contract. Calling the CalculateNessyTokensToReceive() read function from the contract will tell you in real time how many tokens you can expect to receive if you were the next to pay.
Both the PayThreeFifty() and PayThreeHundredFifty() contract functions share the same supply and mathematically work the same, except for PayThreeHundredFifty() gives a 100x multiplier in total NESSY received and gives 1 Rare key instead of 1 Common key while those token supplies last.
For example if the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd transactions to exist that called functions of the Loch Ness Contract were all PayThreeFifty() and each sent 3.50 USDC to this contract, the proportional NESSY amounts paid would be:
Because the NESSY amounts paid are proportional to the remaining supply, as the supply goes down, as more have been paid, less are paid each time, the remaining supply should never reach 0, so that anyone, even many years from now, can enjoy the thrill of being able to say they paid Tree Fiddy to the Loch Ness Monster.
Anyone can send NESSY tokens directly to this contract's address which will increase the total supply it holds which would result in future PayThreeFifty() and PayThreeHundredFifty() transactions to pay proportionally more tokens at that time.
The NESSY DAO owns the Loch Ness Monster contract. All USDC acquired from PayThreeFifty() and PayThreeHundredFifty() will stay with the Loch Ness Monster until WithdrawUSDC() is called. Anyone can call WithdrawUSDC() at any time, which will send all USDC in this contract to the NESSY DAO. WithdrawUSDC() exists to save gas costs for each time PayThreeFifty() or PayThreeHundredFifty() are called, so that those functions don't handle sending USDC to the DAO.
These are bonus ERC20 tokens given to the earliest users of the Loch Ness Monster contract.
These are completely useless tokens. Nothing is planned or promised for future utility for these tokens.
These tokens enable the possibility of future benefits to their holders. In theory, future NESSY DAO proposals could be made to fund new benefits from the USDC acquired from the Loch Ness Monster. Example possibilities, not decided or planned, and not a roadmap:
The supply of these bonus tokens are 350,000 Common Keys and 3,500 Rare Keys.
The airdrop is over. No further actions with $USDC on Base will qualify for new airdrops.
The snapshot date range was from USDC deployment date of Aug 18th 2023 to Mar 5th 2024.
Every address that qualified received 3,500,000 NESSY tokens airdropped directly to their wallet on Base.
